Professional performance of accounting graduates at the National University of Huancavelica: Educational quality and labor challenges

The objective was to describe the professional performance in the follow-up of the graduate of the Professional School of Accounting of the National University of Huancavelica (UNH), period 2017 and 2018. A quantitative, descriptive and non-experimental cross-sectional study was carried out with 67 Accounting graduates of UNH. A questionnaire validated by experts was applied to evaluate professional performance, teacher role and job satisfaction. Data were analyzed with Excel. The results revealed 83.6% of graduates consider their professional profile adequate, 80.6% find the subjects taken useful. 91% have obtained a bachelor's degree, 68.7% have a professional degree. 55.2% completed postgraduate studies, and 46.3% work in the accounting field. Regarding the role of the teacher, 68.7% recognize the monitoring by the university, 37.3% have received invitations to UNH graduate activities. Regarding job satisfaction, 67.2% consider themselves professionally fulfilled and successful, 32.8% have incentive programs in their workplace. It is concluded that this study highlights the need to improve educational quality and graduate monitoring to increase the employability and professional satisfaction of graduates, proposing adjustments in programs and teaching methods to respond.
